Memjet announced this month the availability of the Sirius-12G compact color print engine sub-system. Developed for OEMs in need of creating a compact, cost-effective printer, the Sirius print enables easy integration into custom application configurations. Ultimately, the print engine empowers OEM to design printing solutions with greater control and flexibility, and to better meet the specific needs of their target customers.

For example, the above the web configuration enables more efficient printhead cleaning when roll-to-roll printing, so that a pause in a print job does not require the web to be cut. By facilitating printhead maintenance without the need to break the plane of the media, the Sirius engine enables a wide range of applications including label printing, package printing, mail processing, and print-and-apply labels in product manufacturing operations.

Sirius-powered printers are also able to move the print zone up and down to accommodate varying material thickness such as stuffed envelopes or board stock. This offers a greater range of media handling options for unique applications.
