By Dorothy Chomicz – FAIRBANKS — Copiers, printers and scanners are so ubiquitous in the workplace that most people don’t give them much thought. Plain and utilitarian, they perform tasks that once seemed miraculous but are now taken for granted. However, that machine in the corner can make or break a business if it doesn’t function properly or isn’t suited to the job. That’s where Tom and Cathy Dimon come in.

The couple owns and operates Northern Business Systems, an office equipment sales and service company with customers ranging from small mom-and-pop operations to large government organizations. With a business philosophy of being “focused, flexible and fair,” the Dimons pride themselves on building relationships with their customers and providing personalized service.

“We really try to work on showing people ways to help themselves, because that’s what we’re here for. Our goal is not just to sell you something and disappear; our goal is to provide a service for you to help you do better. Because if you’re doing well, that helps us do well,” Tom said Thursday at the NBS storefront on International Avenue.
