Since our National Dealer Meeting in November, we at Sharp Electronics have been delivering our Tour de Force message to our dealers as we strive to become their Irresistible Partner. In keeping with the Tour de Force theme, we’d like to introduce you to another type of “Tour”, one that goes beyond our businesses and touches our personal lives. It’s called Tour de Cure. This Tour is about helping to conquer Type 1 diabetes, a disease that impacts the lives of millions of children and adults each year.
You may ask why we have selected this particular cause. We are extremely proud to announce that Doug Albregts has been named Man of the Year by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) of Northern New Jersey/Rockland County and will be honored at the annual JDRF Gala on May 3, 2014. Doug has a personal connection to Type 1 diabetes and is actively supporting the mission to conquer this disease.
His Godson, Zach was diagnosed 6 years ago after doctors could not resolve a continuing weight loss issue. As a thriving young adult and student at Arizona State University, Zach deals with the challenges of Type 1 diabetes with substantial grace and transparency. If you did not know he was diabetic, you would never guess it.

Doug is not alone in helping to support research for a cure this year. Doug’s brother, Pat is running the London Marathon and raising money for JDRF in Zach’s name. For the Albregts’, it’s a family effort this year.
The JDRF Gala on May 3rd is an impressive and inspiring evening of dinner, dancing and fund raising auctions in support of the mission to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes and its complications.
The organization has set a goal to raise $700,000 this year which would dramatically increase the pace of this much-needed research. You can help be a part of this effort in several ways. Those that wish to attend the event on an individual or company basis may sign up for a table.
