It’s so easy to get caught in the day-to-day grind. Our days can be packed full of meetings, projects, urgent requests, unplanned conversations and other events that can’t be anticipated. No matter how crazy our days get, at GreatAmerica and Collabrance, we make time to recognize our team and show our appreciation – it is part of our company culture!

Employee appreciation and recognition can be as simple as fully engaging in a conversation with a person when they come to talk to you (yes, that means not looking at the email or phone), or praising them with awards and events.

Once a year, we get the entire company together for our annual Awards Banquet. This black-tie event starts with awards at the local Paramount Theatre, followed by a first-class reception hosted at the Cedar Rapids Country Club with dinner, drinks and dancing. Employees have fun going out together and celebrating the company’s success.

One of the reasons we put so much effort into our annual Awards Banquet is because we understand that the team is what drives our performance, revenue, morale, and success. It’s important to create and give employees a place they love to come every day. When you speak to someone who loves there job, it shows through in better service levels and customer satisfaction.

We just celebrated our annual Awards Banquet, and it reminded me to take time with all employees to say, “thank you” and let them know how much they are appreciated. It goes a long way!
