A combined pair of methodologies aimed at eliminating waste and mistakes and boosting efficiency by cutting unnecessary steps, it’s been widely embraced by entities ranging from the U.S. Army to Amazon.com. And one of the biggest embracers of the idea has long been Xerox Corp.

But now the Connecticut-based printing and business process outsourcing giant is cutting back on such efforts, and jobs, as it says it has a sort of Lean Six Sigma critical mass.
In a memo to employees earlier this month, president of corporate operations Herve Tessler said that Xerox, having met its goal of “embedding the principles and practices of (Lean Six Sigma) within the business … we no longer have a need for a centralized LSS function and (will) disband the corporate LSS team.”
