Making progress on sustainability

To all HP Inc. employees

Sustainability is a powerful force for growth and innovation in the world, and a differentiator for our business. Today, we released the annual HP Sustainability Report, illustrating our progress and initiatives we’re undertaking to support our vision of creating technology that makes life better for everyone everywhere. Our sustainability program is anchored on three focus areas: environment, society, and integrity.

Environment

Through our efforts as a combined company in 2015, we:

  • Reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 20% in our global operations and through our supply chain
  • Decreased our carbon emissions by 11%
  • Decreased our water consumption by 12%
  • Recycled 114,100 metric tons of hardware and supplies through HP Planet Partners

Society

One of Bill and Dave’s core principles was to contribute directly to the well-being of the communities where we operate. We offer programs like HP LIFE, a free online learning program used in more than 200 countries, and empowerment and training for supplier factory workers. We also conducted 192 audits and assessments of supplier facilities in 2015 to ensure our human rights, health, and safety practices are met or exceeded.

Integrity

HP is committed to always acting with integrity, fairness, and accountability. We are uncompromising in our expectations of ethical behavior by our employees, partners, and suppliers, and we have programs in place to safeguard privacy and human rights across our value chain.

As an industry leader in sustainability, we are recognized with top honors including Gartner’s Supply Chain Top 25, in which we vaulted up 13 spots this year to rank #17 globally and scored a perfect 10 out of 10 for corporate social responsibility. Additionally, for the fourth straight year, HP was named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, and for the second consecutive year, we achieved the highest possible grade in CDP’s climate disclosure and performance list.

While we’ve made a significant impact, there is much more to be done. We need to innovate and raise the bar on our sustainability efforts, challenging both ourselves and the industry at large. We’ve already announced lofty goals by: committing to use 100% renewable electricity in our global operations; achieving zero deforestation; and reducing the greenhouse gas emissions intensity of our product portfolio.

Not only are we doing what’s right, but customers, partners, and investors are increasingly making purchasing decisions based on social and environmental performance. They want to know that their purchase will create a lasting benefit. HP has one of the strongest sustainability stories to tell, and we should tell it with pride.

Take a few minutes to explore the report, and hear more about our sustainability initiatives.

Thank you for all of your hard work and commitment, and please continue to make sustainability a focal point in your business decisions and actions. Each of us contributes to HP’s progress, helps to maintain our leadership position, and has the potential to help businesses, individuals, and communities thrive.

Cheers

Dion
