Lexmark plans 500 layoffs but doesn’t say where cuts will be

Lexmark will lay off 500 people in the next 18 months and move a third of those jobs out of the country. The company isn’t disclosing where those 500 jobs are coming from but said they’re global.

Lexmark International Inc. employs about 750 in Lenexa, which used to be Perceptive Software Inc. Perceptive dropped its namefor its parent company’s brand in April.

Jerry Grasso, Lexmark’s vice president of corporate communications, said the layoffs are part of a “restructuring” plan announced in the company’s earnings report released last week.
