With several more expensive, faster MFPs (copiers) in this test, it’s easy to overlook the 45-PPM A4 MultiXpress M4580FX.

But today I can’t ignore this speedy little work horse. I really wanted to push this MFP yesterday to see what it could really handle.

It literally ran all day except during paper replenishment, printing over 14,000 pages in a single day. Not one jam.

For those that think this is a loaded test, I assure you it’s not. All pages yesterday were duplexed. I varied the job run lengths and printed from all paper sources. I’m not running high-end paper, I’m just using normal Staples 20 lb.

We’ve also tried to push the document handler, running copies over prints at a 2:1 rate so far. Not a single misfeed in the feeder. I’d like to end up with more prints than copies by the end of this test so we’ll be printing a lot over the next few weeks.

This MFP has now passed the 150,000 page mark with no service calls. Image quality is still excellent and we are working this machine much harder than the few thousand pages a month a typical customer would normally run.

It’s nice to know the M4580FX can handle extra volume if needed! More importantly, think about how your service margins would look if your MIF ran this reliably.
