On the 3rd September 2016, Phil Madders of PAE & PA Inc will be part of a cycling team wundertaking a 1002 mile trip from St Malo on the Northwest corner of France to Nice in the South East. During the ride, they will climb over 12431 metres traversing two mountain ranges in the 14 days.

The aim is to raise some money for a group of charities supported by the individual riders.

Our three previous trips have raised £26031.00 in donations and thus time we are hoping to get to £40.000 in total. The charities we are supporting do fantastic work and make a real difference to a lot of people. This year they are (in no particular order) MS Society of UK and Canada, Woking Hospice, Bloodwise, and ARUK Alzheimers.

The real challenge of this type of trip is the repetitive grind of an average of 71 miles per day, every day for 14 days. You start to ache earlier every day as you grind out mile after mile, day after day, legs, knees and backsides all start to ache, and as each day wears on, the cumulative fatigue builds to the point where sometimes you just want to throw your bike into a ditch and have a lie down.

What keeps you going is the thought that the pain won’t last forever, and that people are supporting you, and every donation, large or small makes a difference.

All costs for the trip are being met by the riders with some company support so all money raised will go to the nominated charities.
