Unlike expensive room-based systems, RICOH Unified Communication System P3500 supports new, highly mobile workstyles

Malvern, PA, April 29, 2015 – Ricoh Americas Corporation today unveiled the RICOH Unified Communication System P3500, the second generation of its innovative portable business-class videoconferencing system.

With a new HD camera and HDMI input/output, the RICOH Unified Communication System P3500 (built on the VidyoWorks™ platform from Vidyo) combines the power, security and quality of costly, fixed, room-based business-class videoconferencing systems with the added benefits of simple operation and portability.

Using the P3500, organizations can achieve new levels of information mobility by enabling employees to connect and collaborate with colleagues, customers and partners on the road or around the world, sharing real-time HD video, audio and document files.

“Mobility is the dominant new workstyle, and the P3500 gives everyone a way to stay connected when traveling or working from home,” said Matt Sakauchi, Vice President, Visual Communications Group, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “The P3500 is the ideal middle road between very-expensive room-based systems and risky consumer tools, and is an excellent way to reduce the time and cost of travel.”

Ricoh will demo the P3500 at InfoComm 2015 June 17-19 in Orlando, Fla. (Booth 4043).

Portable without compromise
The RICOH Unified Communication System P3500 is about the size of a laptop and just as versatile. The 3.5-pound device includes a HD camera, microphone and speakers that fit inside a soft-sided carrying case. Users simply plug into AC power, Internet connection and display, projector or monitor, and are videoconferencing in about 60 seconds. A 2.0 megapixel camera provides an expansive 125-degree wide-angle view, showing every participant clearly and enabling users to zoom in on individual speakers using the supplied remote control. Data can also be shared with the group from anyone on the call. Once subscribed to Ricoh’s cloud service, starting a video conference is as simple as accessing the address books via the one-touch control.

The RICOH Unified Communication System P3500 can support numerous locations using either P3500s or RICOH Unified Communication System apps (for Windows, Android and iOS operating systems) downloaded to users’ PCs, Macs, laptops, tablets or smartphones (devices require a camera for video conferencing) and display nine locations simultaneously. The system includes business-class security features such as encrypted data streams over wireless networks. It also connects to Ricoh projection systems to create impressive videoconferencing rooms on the fly.

The RICOH Unified Communication System P3500 ensures a high-quality videoconferencing experience via the H.264/SVC compression standard, which adjusts resolution, frame rate and compression to accommodate available bandwidth.

The MSRP for the RICOH Unified Communication System P3500 is $2,200 plus a subscription fee. For details on Ricoh’s full line of products, services and solutions, please visit www.ricoh-usa.com.
