RICOH Pro 8100s Series, set to debut at Print 13, offers industry-leading resolution, registration and media range

MALVERN, PA, Aug. 01, 2013 – Ricoh Americas Corporation today introduced its latest production monochrome multifunction printer system, The RICOH Pro 8100s Series. This brand new design leverages technologies currently used in Ricoh’s color production print systems and is positioned to handle high volume printing requirements.

There are three models within the RICOH Pro 8100s Series, with output speeds of up to 95, 110 and 135 ppm, and come standard with scanning, printing and copying functionality. All three models have a duty cycle specification of up to 3 million-per-month, which provides reliability and assurance to handle the occasional spike in a customer’s monthly volume requirement.

An extremely fast single pass duplex scanning document feeder is standard on the Pro 8100s Series, providing up to 220 impressions per minute scanning speed for the most demanding work flow in monochrome and color.

To render fine type, image detail and generate smooth tonal gradations, the Pro 8100s Series use Ricoh’s VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser) technology to deliver an industry-leading 1200 x 4800 dpi.

Ricoh’s VCSEL laser technology works in tandem with the engine’s mechanical registration system to provide precise front to back registration alignment by compensating for any media expansion and contraction during the duplexing process. This is critical for business cards, post cards, glossy brochures or any other two-sided document where registration is critical.

To increase the range of supported substrates, the RICOH Pro 8100s Series features an intermediate-belt transfer system that can handle paper weights between 40 to 300 g/m2, and even textured or coated stocks on sizes up to 13 x 19 inches. This flexibility, along with its speed and power, make the RICOH Pro 8100s Series ideal for transactional printing of bills, invoices, statements, transpromotional materials, personalized marketing and other variable data printing applications. To help manage the range of papers and their specific printing parameters to optimize

the print quality, the Pro 8100s Series has Ricoh’s Paper Library, which allows users to program multiple parameters to ensure the best printing results. After programming a specific paper into the Paper Library, users can recall them with a single selection, eliminating guesswork and waste.

“Our challenge was to keep advancing the state of production printing even though previous generations of this product were already strong,” said Tim Vellek, Vice President, Production Printing Business Group, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “With the Pro 8100s Series, Ricoh builds upon its production technology legacy and takes it to the next level in terms of performance and value.”

New full-color customizable operating panel

The RICOH Pro 8100s Series utilizes Ricoh’s ease-of-use standard full-color touchscreen operating panel. The operating panel is common among Ricoh’s multifunctional printer (MFP) line and is customizable for each department’s or user’s workflow. Users can create a personal start page that includes shortcut functions for their most popular workflow processes and settings. An optional Web browser enables users to navigate and print from the Web, and allows for easy access to cloud services, including applications for document capture, management, storage, processing (e.g., OCR), printing, sharing, customer relationship management and more. The RICOH Pro 8100s Series can integrate seamlessly with a wide range of Ricoh production printing partner software, including Barr Systems, RSA and PTI Marketing Technologies, enabling commercial printers to increase supported workflows.

For meeting business challenges

With complete scanning, printing and copying capability, the RICOH Pro 8100s Series serves a key role in business information solutions, helping companies manage information input, process and output to address their most important organizational goals.

Customers with any Ricoh production printing solution have access to Ricoh’s Business Booster Program, which is designed to help customers market their services and identify new applications and opportunities.
