Malvern, PA, April 15, 2014 – Ricoh Americas Corporation named a winner in its Philadelphia Eagles VIP Office Party contest this week. Liberty Resources, a not-for-profit, consumer-controlled organization that advocates and promotes independent living for all persons with disabilities, scored the winning entry and will host a party for up to 50 guests at the Philadelphia Eagles NovaCare Complex.

Participants were asked to submit a story in 250 words or less about making information work in today’s office environment. Sample questions included: How do you find and retrieve the right information? Is your data digitalized and accessible anytime, anywhere? How do your mobile users access data? Do your processes and systems work for Generation Y workers?

Philadelphia-based Liberty Resources described in its entry a quest to improve quality service by analyzing data that was previously stored in departmental silos or, in some cases, individual staff repositories.

“Two years ago we started on a journey to improve our quality of service,” said Dan Hart, Director of Information Technology at Liberty Resources. “We created views of our data that helped ignite conversations on how to improve, refine and better use our information. The silos of the past have now been broken down.”

Interesting feedback
The contest survey responses also revealed several interesting trends:
• In a typical day at the office, the majority of respondents (53 percent) commented that not having enough time in the day is their biggest challenge;
• 55 percent of respondents said their employers do not allow them to work from home;
• 59 percent spend at least 1-3 hours a week looking for documents; and
• The majority of respondents (45 percent) are also still checking in on vacation working an average 1-3 hours instead of enjoying their time off.

These findings support recent research released by Ricoh where IT decision-makers and business unit leaders identified “information mobility” as a need for a productive workforce. Nine out of 10 respondents among select industries in the U.S. said information mobility is not just nice to have, but in fact “necessary” for their employees, and nearly half characterized it as “very necessary.” Eight out of 10 respondents said that a lack of information mobility would likely harm employee productivity, business processes and innovation. More than two out of three said revenue growth, time to market and new customer acquisition would also likely suffer without it.
