With its improved multi-vendor support, uniFLOW provides customers with long-term flexibility as their device fleet changes over time. In addition, some major features like secure printing and scanning have been enhanced.

What is new with uniFLOW Version 5.3?

Flexible by design – uniFLOW SmartClient

Managing print servers at branch offices and remote locations has become a costly area for IT departments. Printing can also soak up considerable bandwidth preventing key business applications from running smoothly. The uniFLOW SmartClient allows customers with a large and widely distributed, multi-site infrastructure to print securely and track costs without the need for local print servers in different locations.

When you print, the uniFLOW SmartClient, installed on a user’s computer, will manage your jobs. Once you have identified at a device and released your secure print job, the uniFLOW SmartClient will send it directly to the printer, eliminating the need for a local print server and reducing network print traffic. Accounting data is sent directly to the central uniFLOW server to ensure correct reporting.

With its flexible design the uniFLOW SmartClient can be integrated in a variety of environments, so it can be easily adapted to fit specific customer requirements. You can also mix ‘n match, running some locations with print servers, others with just uniFLOW SmartClients or have a combination of both.

Strengthened Multi-Vendor Support

Today, many organizations have a printer fleet that is a mix of devices from different manufacturers. With uniFLOW V5.3 the multi-vendor support is enhanced by adding new options for connecting devices – the uniFLOW Release Station and, next to the existing embedded applets for Canon, Konica Minolta, Xerox, and Hewlett Packard[1], an embedded applet for Samsung devices.

Screen Shot 2014-07-29 at 3.08.49 PMThe uniFLOW Release Station is a device independent touch screen with an embedded card reader used to release personal secure print jobs on most devices. It ensures that the user experience when releasing print jobs is similar across all devices, whether it be a Canon device, with an embedded applet, or an alternative device operating with the uniFLOW Release Station.

The uniFLOW embedded applet for Samsung provides a device integrated solution enabling device locking, job release from a secure print queue, print and copy accounting, and integration into the native scanning of Samsung devices.

Extend the base

uniFLOW V5.3 offers a next level of secure printing by automatic deletion of secure print jobs which have failed to print ruling out the risk of other users printing out documents they are not authorized to see.

Document security can also be improved and network traffic reduced with the built-in encryption and compression of print jobs in transit.

Another new feature is the possibility to control the uniFLOW Universal Driver display of individual driver options and driver settings centrally. This means users/user groups can be offered a customized driver without the need of creating separate driver packages, saving valuable time and effort.

In readiness for the next generation Internet Protocol (IP) address standard, uniFLOW now also supports Scanning made easy

With uniFLOW V5.3 the range of cloud-based scan destinations has been extended to include scan to box, DropBox, Evernote®, Google Drive™ and Microsoft OneDrive®. Setup is easy using new built-in wizards.

It is also possible to scan to several document management systems/enterprise content management systems including HP Worksite, FileNet Content Manager, Content Server and DMS systems supporting the CMIS standard.

Key Improvements and Benefits of uniFLOW Version 5.3:

  • The uniFLOW SmartClient allows organizations with a multi-site infrastructure to print securely and track costs without the need for local print servers, thus reducing print server costs and network print traffic.
  • Improved uniFLOW multi-vendor support provided by the uniFLOW Release Station and embedded applet for Samsung devices give customers long-term flexibility to accommodate changes to their device fleet.
  • Automatic deletion of print jobs if they fail to print and the default encryption enhances system security and prevents unauthorized access to confidential documents.
  • Additional cloud-based scan destinations and integration with DMS/ECM systems allows users to scan directly to the correct back-end system, improving overall office productivity.
