Des Plaines Office Equipment Promotes Megan Barrera to Marketing Specialist; will Oversee Firm’s Re-Branding and Social Media Initiatives

CAROL STREAM, IL, ISSUED October 27, 2018…Des Plaines Office Equipment (,  a three-generation family business and an established leader in the fields of Managed Print Services and Managed Networks serving the Chicago market as well as Northern Indiana, has promoted Megan Barrera of Bartlett, IL to the position of Marketing Specialist.

In this role, she will work with CEO Chip Miceli and help guide the four-location firm through a re-branding effort, which will incorporate the firm’s different services and products under one name and one website, as well as building and implementing an eCommerce site.

The Lake Villa native and University of Kansas graduate first joined Des Plaines Office Equipment in 2017 as a Sales Specialist in their Chicago location but was recently promoted to assist with the firm’s ongoing marketing initiatives. Des Plaines Office Equipment, in the last several years, expanded its reach from its three Chicago locations into Northern Indiana, with the acquisition and subsequent merger of Kramer & Leonard’s and McShane’s, in Chesterton. With these additional locations, the company has expanded its offerings to include office furniture, furniture design and office products.

Additionally, the company will re-brand under the name Pulse Technology; and the initial phase of this effort will be the re-naming of their Indiana properties under the Pulse banner. She is working to integrate all of the firm’s marketing materials to reflect the new name and the additional offerings. “We are working toward being a one-stop shop,” she said.

She brings a strong resume in numerous fields, including healthcare, technology, web design, sales, communications, and business to her expanded role. In addition to her degree from the University of Kansas, she also received a certificate in full stack development through Trilogy’s Coding Bootcamp at Northwestern University.

Throughout college, she held a part-time internship at a software development company where she worked primarily with higher education health science programs across the U.S.

Barrera is also upgrading the firm’s individual websites as well as developing one site for the Pulse Technology platform, which will move many of the company’s products onto an ecommerce site.

In her out-of-office time, she is very involved with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). She and her family work together in fundraising for and participation in the annual JDRF Walk in Libertyville, IL. “This past year, I worked to create a website for our fundraising events.” Their team, “TeamAROCK” hosts numerous events to help the organization grow and in its first year, TeamAROCK raised more than $20,000 for JDRF in loving memory of her cousin Aaron.
