Canon U.S.A. is excited to announce a partnership with the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) to produce a series of business webinars available to ASMP members.  Many visual creators have the talent and experience to create magnificent work, but are looking for training and guidance to develop stronger business skills to get their work noticed. Business development has become more of a challenge during the era of COVID-19, where networking opportunities are limited. With that in mind, the new virtual seminars are designed to provide members with the vital tools to help maintain and even build their businesses, despite current complications.

Canon and ASMP both feel strongly about supporting the business of photographers. ASMP is the leader in promoting photographers’ rights, providing education in better business practices, producing business publications for photographers, and helping to connect clients with professional photographers. Canon values the work that photographers do and is honored to be part of the process through which creators impact our culture. The natural combination of these missions will hopefully provide photographers with a more robust set of tools to build their careers.

“Canon traces its roots to 1933 and has been serving photographers ever since at the cutting-edge where technology and art intersect. We’re proud to be a part of this journey with them, partnering to serve photographers in innovative ways during this time of big changes in our industry and our world,” said ASMP Chief Executive Officer James Edmund Datri.

“Canon cameras are only as strong as the professionals who utilize them. We can create the technological advances, but it is the skill of the people behind the lens that creates the images that have changed the world. ASMP has been a vital piece of the photography profession since its founding in 1944, helping to guide those skilled artists through the gauntlet of the business world. As the world continues to evolve at an exponential pace, this partnership is a logical fit that benefits both of our organizations and the photography industry as a whole,” said Tatsuro “Tony” Kano, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Canon U.S.A.’s Imaging Technologies & Communications Group.
