Industry mourns passing of John Flanigan

Sad news to report as I received an email from Bob Smith of A&A Office Systems about the passing of John Flanigan.

Bob sent the following note:

Hi Andy

Just wanted to pass this on, John Flanigan is probably known to a lot of copier dealers, especially

Here in CT.

He started Abacus Business products which later became Danka

And in 1999 he along with myself and others formed DocuSource, a Sharp Dealer in Hartford, later moving to Middletown, Ct

John passed away Sunday, he was 67, and is survived by his wife Linda, sons Michael and Keith and daughter Ashley

I don’t have much more than that at this time but I feel a lot of people in our industry would like to know this.

I spent a good part of the day reaching out to everyone I could reach that worked with him.

It really hits you how many people are affected by a business owner.

As John Sullivan, who owns A&A Office Systems where I am now said this morning as we talked about this subject, “Not just employees, but families.”
