Kennesaw, Ga. December 13, 2019 – Geographics of Atlanta, Georgia recently invested in the Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106-8P+L and Stahlfolder TH 82 in order to increase productivity as well as keep up with customers’ demanding expectations.

Makeready Times Cut by 70%

To continue to stay ahead in the marketplace, Geographics purchased the Speedmaster XL 106-8P+L due to the high quality and productivity of the press. With Prinect Inpress Control 2, the XL 106 handles even the most complex color critical job changes at the fastest speeds possible. This technology helps deliver the first measurable result in less than 60 sheets and in under a minute.

“Inpress Control was definitely a deciding factor when it came to choosing the XL 106,” said Norvin Hagan, President and CEO of Geographics. “We expect that this technology will help cut our makeready by at least 70%, which will make our production flow so much more efficient —allowing us to stand out amongst competitors.”

Expected to start running later this month, the Speedmaster XL 106 is equipped with the latest Push-to-Stop technology — allowing jobs to be autonomously changed over without operator intervention and continuing to print until the operator intervenes. The Push-to-Stop technology is made possible with Prinect workflow in combination with Intellistart 2, a unique integrated software system for effective job preparation, which greatly reduces the number of operating steps during a job change.

With maximum production speeds of 15,000 sheets an hour, the Speedmaster XL 106 will be fully equipped with Heidelberg Saphira Consumables. According to Hagan, “Even though this is our first time using Saphira Consumables, we expect to see great results in quality and productivity.”

Solution to Signature Folding

To further increase the company’s efficiency, Geographics also invested in a Stahlfolder TH 82 to partner alongside the XL 106. Combining higher throughput and excellent flexibility, the Stahlfolder TH 82 with stacker provides high quality folding at 12,000 sheets per hour. As a modular machine, the Stahlfolder TH 82 will focus on specialized applications and will also be able to add more customized value as needed.

“Our customers expect that we will have their products printed and finished, so the Stahlfolder will be a great solution in getting our signature folding out the door with a fast turnaround time,” said Hagan.

Alongside Geographics’ Speedmaster XL 106 and Stahlfolder TH 82 is a long list of Heidelberg equipment including a Speedmaster XL 105-8+L, a Printmaster QM 46-2, three high-speed POLAR cutters, and four Stahlfolders. According to Hagan, “We keep choosing Heidelberg because they offer the best equipment in the market.”
