Bizhub Multifunction Printers Receive Platinum, Gold and Silver Awards for their Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet) Solution

(Konica Minolta) was honored with receiving three, 2018 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards from American Security Today. Konica Minolta’s bizhub MFP’s, featuring the SIPRNet software solution, received a Platinum Award for Best Smart Card Reader; a Gold Award for Best Access Control & Authentication System, and a Silver Award for Best Identification Management Solution.
SIPRNet is a classified network used by U.S. agencies like the Department of Defense (DoD) and the U.S. Department of State to transmit classified information (up to and including information classified SECRET) by packet switching over their ‘completely secure’ environment. Simply put, SIPRNet is the DOD’s classified version of the civilian Internet.
Konica Minolta’s SIPRNet solution provides authorized personnel access to this “Secret” network while protecting against unauthorized access, meeting all National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and related government standards. Konica Minolta bizhub MFP’s ship with 90meter SIPRNet middleware embedded in the MFP, providing the same level of security as a user sitting at their PC or workstation. It meets the federal government’s requirement for “two-factor” authentication and facilitates the use of public key infrastructure (PKI) authentication tools.
These award-winning systems and solutions are the outcome of working with 90meter’s proprietary Smart Card Manager-90 software. California-based 90meter, Inc. developed software to realize the full benefit of the SIPRNet, a card security system used to provide document encryption for both scan and print applications, cryptographic signatures for scan to e-mail, and authoritative use of identity credentials.
Konica Minolta is expanding their ability to support the U.S. Government – especially the Department of Defense requirements to satisfy Strong Authentication to all employees and contractors, by introducing Konica Minolta’s SIPRNet Token Solution for smartcard authentication.
