Many of you reading this have probably sat through one of John’s sessions. He was great in front of a crowd and although I only met him a couple of times when it was the John Hey/John Hanson show and he was always super nice. This one is a bummer. Here’s the obituary.

John Leslie Hanson, age 65 of Bloomington, MN died peacefully on December 29, 2016. He was preceded in death by parents, Fred and Margaret, and brother, Sanfred “Fred.”

He is survived by loving wife of 43 years, Julie; children, Josh (Vanessa Hrbek) and Breanne (Adam Hegg); grandchildren Imogen, Helena, and Jasper; sister-in-law, Wanda “Skip” Domke, nephew Tom, niece Jody; and other loving family and friends.

John was born April 19, 1951, in Benson, MN.

After
graduating from Benson High School, he attended
the University of Minnesota Morris, where he was
president of Beta Sigma Psi.

He met Julie Gasteyer
at a wedding, and the two were wed on September
8, 1973. They moved to Brooklyn Park, where John
worked at Donaldson Company while completing his MBA at the University of St. Thomas.

He went on to a successful career at D.C. Hey, IKON, and Rainier Technology before founding a consultancy firm, Strategic Business Associates.

He truly enjoyed his work, was well respected in his industry, and loved traveling the country working with companies, presenting at conferences, and brokering mergers and acquisitions.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, John was happiest spoiling his family and taking them on incredible vacations. He loved spending time with family and friends at his cabin on Lake Washburn. He enjoyed traveling, his daily latte, golf, and driving convertible sportscars. He made a friend in everyone he met.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. at Transfiguration Lutheran Church, 11000 France Ave S, Bloomington, MN. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service which will be followed by lunch.
