BACKSTORY (sent by Jeremiah Graves of Marco) – In November, Shaw received concerning medical news resulting in open-heart surgery. This occurred in the middle of the implementation process after he earned Marco a contract with Rockford Public Schools.

Shaw is still recovering from the surgery, but is back at work in Rockford after his cardiovascular surgeon gave him the OK. An avid Cubs fan, Shaw said the worst part about being in the hospital was that his room didn’t have a TV to see them win the World Series – his doctors didn’t want him to be put in any stressful situation, he said.

A 10-year veteran in the IT industry, he became employed by Marco after the acquisition of Nexus Office Systems on Jan. 25, 2016.

ROCKFORD, ILL., December 29, 2016 – Patience and teamwork led to Marco recently securing a managed print contract for more than $1M with Rockford Public Schools and includes 51 locations.

Marco Technology Advisor Raymond Shaw (pictured) headed the deal, which started in 2014 while Shaw was working for Nexus Office Systems prior to being acquired by Marco on Jan. 25, 2016.

More than eight vendors vied for the contract with one of the largest school districts in Illinois that educates more than 28,000 and employs approximately 4,700 people.

Marco’s size, service and resources allowed the implementation process, which included 186 copiers installed in just over 12 days, to go smoothly, something Shaw believes puts Marco ahead of many competitors.

“All the services Marco provides as a company makes it a one-stop experience,” Shaw said, a 10-year veteran in the industry. “We have a much larger organization that can focus on the clients’ needs and as a third-party provider, we can provide products and services that are tailored for each customer.”

In November, Shaw received concerning medical news that placed him on leave for six weeks following open- heart surgery. His Marco teammates, Doug Meagher, Dana Danielson, Jeff Olson and Mary Inderieden took over finalizing the installation process while Shaw was recovering from surgery.

With the contract, Marco will provide managed print services for three years with an option for two additional years.

“The turnkey software system and card-swipe authorization gives the district better tools to manage printing and copying output,” said Shaw. “I think this win really sets the tone for Marco being recognized as a real player in Illinois.”
