Someday bards will sing of their honor and glory. On October 22, 13 of the best copier technicians at Samsung dealerships throughout the US travelled to Ridgefield NJ to prove their worth in mortal combat…er…I mean in Samsung’s Master Tech Contest.

Armed with their favorite weapons (screwdrivers, laptops and the cunning that got them here), the technicians attacked the six different MX-7600 60-PPM copiers, each pre-set with it’s own error they were tasked to fix within the 30 minute time frame. The techs were graded on their speed, accuracy and ability to fix each of these jobs.

20151023_104643To the winner went the glory and fame that can only be associated with being crowned champion. I imagine book tours, movies and of course appearances on shows like Good Morning America will be par for the course for our champion Adam Doyle of Shenedoah Valley Office Equipment for the next few years.

Paul Pereira of LDI placed 2nd so if anything should happen to Adam before his reign ends, Paul will carry the torch. Third place went to Jeff Spink of Usherwood. To those who didn’t win, they received a catered lunch, all the brownies they could eat and the right to tell their grandchildren they were there when Adam “The Hammer” Doyle won.

20151023_112004_resizedWhat a great contest! I don’t ever remember another vendor doing anything like this and if they did, they didn’t tell me about or bring me down to see it so Samsung gets the honor or being first in my book.

This all started several months ago when Samsung launched their flagship 60-PPM A3 copiers. They wanted to make sure their techs were up to snuff and ready for anything so they created a training program that all dealer techs working on the devices were required to take. The top 13 copier techs were identified based on the training results and then brought to Samsung’s US headquarters to determine who was the best.
