The use of iris recognition technology has historically been limited to situations requiring the highest security. But as biometric systems continue to advance, more practical applications are being discovered. This latest iteration of identification technology, which captures snapshots of the iris and converts unique characteristics into mathematical patterns, can now be incorporated in time and attendance tracking systems.

Advantages of Iris Time Clocks

Iris time clocks offer several advantages over alternative methods of time and attendance tracking methods such as badge systems or fingerprint scans:

  • Employee swipe cards or badges can be easily lost, shared, or forgotten. Badges also may pose a security risk to the company or improperly shared among employees. Time theft can be a concern when employees clock others in, otherwise known as “buddy punching.”
