Quocirca recently commissioned a survey, with 90 channel executives participating, on the impact of COVID-19 on the print industry. Nearly a third of those surveyed are from US organizations.

In the report, 66% state that the crisis has had a significant impact on their business, with a further 3% indicating a critical impact. The report goes on to cite that print and digital workflows are an essential part of businesses contingency plans, with 85% agreeing that the crisis will cause significant ongoing disruption to the print industry.

A decline in print volumes across industries is expected, but there are key sectors where print volumes are rapidly increasing. 47% of respondents are seeing increased demand from the healthcare sector and 28% have seen an increase in other government customers.

The positive news is that the majority of respondents see this as an opportunity for innovation within the print industry. Nearly half of respondents state that they will be bringing new products and/or services to market. Overall, 79% believe COVID-19 presents an opportunity to drive new product and service innovation. A major opportunity exists for solution providers to ensure continual innovation to optimize security across remote locations and ensure regulatory compliance.
