Print Providers, Retail Designers and Merchandise Managers Value the Sustainable, Environmentally-Friendly Substrate

April 13, 2018 — Lyndhurst, NJ — Hop Industries, manufacturer of the durable Hop-Syn synthetic paper today announces the success from exhibiting at the recent GlobalShop 2018, the nation’s largest retail design industry trade show. The event was held at McCormick Place in Chicago, from March 27-29, 2018. Hop Industries’ booth attracted numerous print providers, retail designers and merchandise managers, who value the sustainable and environmentally-friendly substrate for in-store signage and product displays. The company demonstrated its full line of Hop-Syn synthetic papers, giving visitors a wide range of print options, from backlit displays and durable banners to hang tags and anti-theft packaging, and more.

“Hop Industries received a positive response from attendees at GlobalShop 2018,” comments Jack Smith, Senior Vice President of Hop Industries. “Attendees appreciated the environmentally-friendly offering of the Hop-Syn synthetic papers, and many new retailers plan to integrate the substrate for the first time into their upcoming print projects.”

Expo organizers estimate over 10,000 attendees at the GlobalShop 2018 event, marking the largest draw in over five years. Hop Industries also experienced its most productive GlobalShop expo in over five years.

Smith comments, “Interest in Hop-Syn synthetic papers was widespread amongst print providers, store designers and big brand manufacturers who stopped by our booth to discuss the ways in which Hop-Syn synthetic paper can make an impact as a quality and environmental alternative to vinyl and polystyrene for a variety of print projects.” He adds, “The big trend this year was definitely big brand retailers and consumer product manufacturers pushing their print buyers to use more environmentally-friendly substrates.”

Hop-Syn is a durable, tear resistant substrate suitable for a wide range of retail applications, such as block-out window posters, aisle banners, sectional ceiling signs, shelf talkers, backlit displays, hang tags, anti-theft packaging, and warranty tags for both indoor and outdoor use.

At GlobalShop 2018, Hop demonstrated Hop-Syn TO, a bright white, 99-percent opaque synthetic paper. Tear resistant and 100-percent waterproof, the Hop-Syn TO grade is designed for retail banners and block-out window signs, and can withstand harsh environments. The company also featured its Hop-Syn XT paper grade. The bright white, high-opacity synthetic paper is designed for printing durable POP displays, banners, aisle signs and warranty tags, which require to have extreme tear resistance.

At the Expo, Hop also featured Hop-Syn G2, a heavy gauge synthetic paper, ranging from .012 up to .020 gauge for printing hang tags, anti-theft packaging and durable signage that needs to hold up for one year without discoloring or turning brittle. Also on display at GlobalShop was Hop-Syn BL for backlit displays. BL is made from a unique composition of polypropylene and calcium carbonate. Hop also displayed Hop-Syn G1, a white, opaque, tear resistant synthetic paper that folds without scoring. Hop-Syn G1 and Hop-Syn DL are used for maps, charts and manuals. Hop-Syn DL is light enough to float on water, but strong enough to withstand water, grease, chemicals and tearing.

Hop-Syn is available in six grades. Its smooth matte, micro-porous surface and high-dyne level makes it suitable for offset, screen, flexo, UV and latex inkjet printing equipment.
