Earth Day Activities Benefit Local Environmental Organizations

Ramsey, NJ, (April 22, 2019) – Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. is committed to taking action to ensure a sustainable future for our planet.

To support this mission, Konica Minolta has partnered with the Bergen Volunteer Center to coordinate local community activities in which employees can volunteer time during their workday to “Serve the Earth” on Earth Day 2019.

On Monday, April 22, 2019, a team of Konica Minolta employees will spend the morning at the Flat Rock Brook Nature Center in Englewood, NJ to help clean up Jones Road Park Strip and install water bars on some wet sections of the trails.

Another group of employees will learn about organic sustainable farming at the Mahwah Environmental Volunteer Organization. Volunteers will assist with daily farm activities, creating raised beds and shoveling compost.

“Konica Minolta has believed in sustainability and the need for companies to create positive change for decades, long before most of the corporate world was considering the need for action,” said Allison Kern, Senior CSR and Internal Engagement Specialist, Konica Minolta. “Earth Day is just one of many opportunities we embrace in order to make a positive impact on our planet.”

Lynne Algrant, CEO of the Bergen Volunteer Center commends Konica Minolta on their dedication to serving the community. “Konica Minolta is a long-standing partner of the Bergen Volunteer Center and we are thrilled to help their employees turn their caring into meaningful impact on “Serve the Earth” day. Through the service of their talented workforce and their philanthropy, Konica Minolta is a true partner in our mission to Improve Lives and Strengthen the Community.”

About Bergen Volunteer Center

The Bergen Volunteer Center was created in 1966 to match volunteers with nonprofit agencies. They have continued this initiative through the Get Connected database that connects thousands of individuals with nonprofit agencies. More importantly they operate our own direct service programs. Their Improving Lives division includes their Successful Aging andSuccessful Families programs. Successful Aging consists of our Chore and Cheer programs. Chore is their handyperson program where individuals perform minor home repairs for seniors. Cheer volunteers ensure homebound seniors are safe and healthy by providing them with a home visit and grocery shopping. Their Successful Families initiative includes Mentoring programs that support struggling single mothers and children who have suffered abuse or neglect. Through their Strengthening the Community work they focus on civic engagement, leadership, and volunteerism. They created Bergen LEADS, a program that develops a pipeline of locally knowledgeable civic leaders and offers the program to adults, college students, and teenagers. They focus on corporate volunteerism through our Business Volunteer Council and our All in A Day’s Work corporate volunteerism projects. The Bergen Volunteer Center manages All Wrapped Up, a holiday giving program; Making it Home, a program to furnish the homes of low income individuals; Redefining Retirement, a program that matches retirees with meaningful volunteer work and VITA, a volunteer in tax assistance program for low income individuals.
