Business Products Council Association (BPCA) held their annual meeting in Atlanta this past week. Over 120 people from more than 20 dealers met to learn from educational sessions, to discuss industry trends and to share ideas.

BPCA is an association of independent non-competing imaging dealers, each from different geographic areas, that meets regularly to share knowledge, best practices and more. Essentially, they talk about what’s working and what’s not and help each other build on their collective success. This association has some big names and carries some weight.

The event was heavily sponsored by companies that see great value in the BPCA. Vendors such as ACDI, Clover, GreatAmerica and Ricoh among others provided these vendors with the change to present and mingle with dealers.

The first morning started with a warm welcome from Executive Director Dominic Pontrelli, followed by an update on the Council.

The schedule was packed with great sessions, including one called Staying Relevant in Today’s Market followed by an industry overview that I gave. The main speaker then followed me; Ranger Kris “Tonto” Paronto gave us a play by play of what actually happened at Benghazi. It wasn’t political, it was just awesome. He’s a true hero.

Other sessions were geared towards sales and service, sessions on hiring and managing millennials and iindustry veteran Frank Cannata led a panel that brought umango, DocuWare and others onto the stage to chat about workflow and solutions in areas of document capture and management, scanning and more.

In all, a great event. This is a very influential group of some of the most successful dealers in our industry and they’re a great group. I look forward to attending future events.
