LONDON, 25 November 2013 – Canon Europe, world leader in imaging solutions, opened the doors of its Customer Experience Center in Poing, near Munich, from 19 – 21 November for its Publishing and Book Printing Conference. The event, aimed at those working in book printing, publishing and production, explored the latest technological innovations as well as industry trends and future challenges.
The event’s keynote speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Stefan Brües of Wuppertal University’s Electrical, Information Technology and Media Technology division, who discussed the future of communication and how this will affect the publishing industry. He also explored the relationship between book publishing tools and content, the future of book printing technology and the relationship between paper and ink.
As well as an overview of the Canon product portfolio covering each stage of the production process – including prepress, printing and finishing – the afternoon included a number of break-out sessions where delegates toured Canon’s Customer Experience Centre and discovered more about the areas of on-demand book production, short-run printing and personalised content.
Products demonstrated at the event included the Océ JetStream 5500 – a high speed, industrial inkjet solution, which can produce up to 30,000 B2 sheets per hour – and the Océ ColorStream 3700, a full colour, continuous feed inkjet printer, which incorporates proven high volume printing technology and prints at up to 100 meters per minute.
Further technology on display included a number of printers from Canon’s imagePRESS range – which offer excellent production credentials including offset comparable image quality – and theVarioPrint 6000, part of the fastest and most productive family of digital perfecting printing systems available today.
