FREMONT, Calif. – January 30, 2014 – Electronics For Imaging, Inc. (NASDAQ: EFII), a world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation, today announced the global expansion of EFI PrintMe®, a fast, secure and cost-effective cloud printing solution. Worldwide usage of the PrintMe service tripled in 2013 as mobile device users looked for ways to conveniently print. To meet the rising demand, EFI has expanded the solution to include new apps and drivers, more locations to print, and additional language support, making it even easier for users to print on-the-go.

Screen Shot 2014-01-30 at 2.28.58 PMThe worldwide market for mobile devices continues to grow, with industry analyst Gartner predicting  nearly 2.5 billion mobile device shipments in 2014 — 1.9 billion mobile phones and 0.6 billion desktops, laptops, ultramobiles, and tablets. Increasing numbers of people are using cloud storage services on mobile devices to gain access to photos and documents from any device in any location. With access to these documents comes a need to print, and PrintMe Cloud service provides people with the flexibility and convenience to easily print from their mobile devices at hotels, convention centers, airports, college campuses, office superstores and other retail and business locations.

The EFI M500 Self-Serve Station with PrintMe Cloud service allows us to increase customer satisfaction while operating more efficiently as a business because our employees can help customers with different services rather than overseeing print jobs at the retail counter.”

PrintMe Cloud now offers users more choices of how to conveniently print from their mobile devices. Users also have more ways to locate a public printer from an expanding list, including approximately 500 U.S. Staples stores. In addition, PrintMe has expanded its language support to accommodate users in nine languages.

EFI has recently expanded the PrintMe service to include:

  • New iPhone/iPad and Android applications allow mobile users to print documents, photos or web pages from their mobile device. They can also access and print documents stored on various popular cloud tools, such as Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, Apple iCloud, Microsoft SkyDrive, SugarSync and 4shared.
  • Windows and Mac laptop or desktop users can install one convenient print driver in order to send documents or web pages to PrintMe Cloud.
  • Users of any mobile device can also email a document to print@printme.com or upload to the PrintMe.com website.
  • A new locator service on the mobile application uses GPS or a search function to find the nearest print location presented on a map or in a list. The PrintMe.com website has a location-based search feature with both a map and a list of locations.
  • Nine languages are now supported: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese and Japanese.

Screen Shot 2013-11-14 at 10.16.19 AM“EFI was a pioneer in recognizing the need for printing on-the-go and implemented the PrintMe Cloud service in 2001,” said John Henze, vice president of Fiery marketing for EFI. “Over the past 12 years, we have continually evolved and expanded the service to meet the needs of mobile device and cloud storage users around the world. In the past year alone, we have seen the number of EFI PrintMe users triple. As that number continues to grow, along with the general adoption of mobile devices, so will the need to print away from the office or home. With these most recent expansion efforts and enhancements to PrintMe Cloud, we are continuing to meet market needs, offering an even more convenient, easy-to-use mobile printing solution.”
