Forbes’ Methodology
The Forbes ranking was conducted from an online survey of 30,000 American workers at mid-size and large U.S. companies, nonprofit institutions such as hospitals, government agencies and U.S. divisions of multinationals, where they were asked their opinions on their employers and others in their industry. From that pool, the top 250 mid-size companies made the list and were placed into 27 industry categories, including retail and wholesale, education, and banking and financial services.

The survey was conducted with global digital data collection partners who use technology and sampling methodologies to facilitate a deep understanding of consumer opinions and behavior. Participation in the survey was voluntary, and respondents were recruited from thousands of sources to maximize reach and representation. The mix of respondents (gender, age, region, educational level, and ethnicity) in the sample represents American employees.
