CUSTOMER BACKGROUND

Screen Shot 2013-11-22 at 3.37.27 PMPlano Independent School District (ISD), located in Plano, TX, serves nearly 55,000 students through its 71 schools. The district includes pre-schools through senior high schools, in addition to special program centers providing accelerated education and guidance services. Plano ISD is often viewed as a model by districts throughout the state because of its successful implementation of education solutions – so much so that other school districts try to emulate Plano ISD.

THE CHALLENGE

CUSTOMER

EDUCATION SEGMENT

Pre-K–12th Grade

Plano ISD had been using a major competitor’s color inkjet printers for more than a decade, but when the district came to a collaborative decision to upgrade to the latest Windows® computer operating system software across the district, their printer provider Screen Shot 2013-11-22 at 3.38.48 PMwould not accommodate the change. Plano ISD required a print driver that could operate with their software upgrade, but also desired a toner-based solution that would allow the district to better control costs and increase efficiency within the schools. The district’s current print vendor also did not have a printer with the color banner printing capabilities which the schools desired to enhance the classroom environment.

THE PLANO ISD SOLUTION

Plano ISD, working through M&A Technology – a leading provider of technology products and services—met with OKI to discuss the implementation of color printers that could accommodate the district’s operating system upgrade. Shortly after the first meeting, M&A Technology confirmed that OKI could deliver what the district’s current provider could not, and made the decision to carry out a complete color printer replacement initiative throughout each of Plano ISD’s

71 schools in their libraries and labs.

Screen Shot 2013-11-22 at 3.39.17 PMThe decision to make the switch to OKI was clear, as OKI’s HD digital color printers were not only compatible with Plano ISD’s computer technology needs, but also provided outstanding color output and exceptional results at high print speeds. The toner-based digital color printers provided deep, saturated colors and fine detail, enabling the schools to print documents, including banners up to 52” in length, with vibrant color, enhancing the classroom experience in a way Plano ISD had not been able to achieve in the past. For the district’s classroom printer needs, OKI’s reliable digital monochrome printers were placed in schools throughout the district, delivering increased productivity and efficiency at an affordable price point.

Plano ISD was instantly satisfied with the performance of the new printers, as well as the increased level of dedicated and personalized customer support provided by OKI. The VIP level of customer support gave Plano ISD staff a direct line to OKI’s personalized tech support, providing immediate printer support whenever issues arose.

CONCLUSION

M&A Technology’s total printer replacement strategy for Plano ISD is now replacing and updating the existing printer fleet. Plano ISD’s current print fleet of OKI’s color and monochrome devices has already resulted in significant success for the district. Together, M&A Technology and OKI have provided a cost-effective solution that meets the schools’ technology needs while delivering impressive output at a low total cost of ownership and providing unparalleled support – continuously demonstrating OKI’s commitment to customer satisfaction and success.
