I just attended a customer event held at Xerox’s Gil Hatch Center in Webster, NY. The event had about 100 attendees, mostly high-end production customers using or considering iGen press technology and other workflow for their operations. I was excited to see some of the new technology (you’ll have to wait for Graph Expo), but let’s face it; I’m not one to pass up a free lunch and a chance to sit on the Arlen Ness Nuvera custom chopper.
Attendees arrived on a Tuesday night and were treated to dinner at a cool local art house where they networked not only with Xerox executives and partners, but also with each other.
This is the second of these events I’ve attended and they’re very effective. Xerox brings a ton of people to Rochester where they can see all the printers and workflow under one roof. Perspective customers rub elbows with current customers who tell them how they’re working with Xerox and how the relationship is providing them with new opportunities and new revenue streams. Current Xerox customers compared notes on what they were doing, how Xerox was aiding them and where they’re finding success as well.
Best practices weren’t only being discussed during lunch and socializing, Xerox had a couple of customers give presentations on how Xerox helped them modernize and seize opportunities they couldn’t before. These were big names in the graphics communications industry.
After the presentations, we were taken behind the stage onto the floor where we were treated to some NDA looks at the future. I’ll show you the pictures I was allowed to take so you can see the floor. Check out how intent the crowd is on the presentations. Xerox had this crowd’s full attention – an apparent home run on the content’s relevance.
In all, events like this are a great way to expose customers to the full breadth of their portfolio and the way they got these customers to pitch their products for them was pretty generous. Thanks for the invite Xerox, it was a nice event and time well spent!
