Xerox Corp. announced Thursday that they have secured a $16 million contract with the Department of Homeland Security to digitize citizen documents.

From offices in Kentucky, the Xerox will scan and digitize immigration records, a process that will results in the production of over  25 million images a year for three years. .

Xerox is renovating space in Kentucky to meet  stringent security requirements necessary for handling government documentation and records. Upon completion, this facility will be one of less than two dozen offices compliant with National Archives and Records Administration standards.

The project is expected to create 50 new jobs in that area.
